[1719-Bahne] The appointment of Peter Thacher as minister sparks a protest within the congregation. According to Walter Muir Whitehill, “Dissident members stormed into the gallery and expressed their contempt for the proceedings by pissing over the railing onto the heads of those below.” The dissidents subsequently secede and form the church and form their own congregation and move to a new church in 1721.*
